CSB Support Staff Committee Meeting

Present: Jeanne Terres, Jackie Gertken., Terri Johnson, Bev Overman, Joan Ellering, Tina Kortenbusch, Mary Niedenfuer.

Minutes

The minutes to the November and January meetings were approved.

Joint Benefit Committee

There was discussion on replacing Becky Terwey, whose term is up next fall. Joan reported that Susie Keller from Food Service is willing to serve.

Professional Development

Jeanne reported that the applications stand as denied against the wishes of the SSC. Our policy will need to be rewritten, which the PD committee will work on. There was discussion that committee terms need to be staggered.

Committee Member Replacement

Jim McDougle needs replacing on the SSC. Jackie reported that the Power Plant sent nominations: Jeff Curtis and Wayne Laudenbach have been nominated, but Jeff is not interested. Wayne is thinking about it.

Spring 2004 Events

• "Tina and Lena" were very popular and the event was successful. Co-chairs of the St. John's Guild may present "How to take a class on campus." We may co-sponsor--one event on each campus. There was a suggestion to have staff members who've attended class share their experiences and suggestions.
• Mary spoke about the Job Description workshops and deemed them a success.
• The monastery tour is coming up.

Phone Meeting with Sue Palmer

If there are no topics to discuss with Julie, we may cancel. The benefit sheet has been updated and will be emailed to all support staff. A handout was passed out showing support staff salaries ranges.

Co-chair and Committee Terms - tabled.

Retreat

There was discussion on organizing an on-campus retreat to discuss future SSC plans.

Anniversaries/Birthdays

Discussion on whether this is a good idea. Joan felt that Food Service employees would love this show of appreciation. Nothing firm was decided.

Miscellaneous

Jeanne and Jackie are working with Herb--there is a new faculty/staff photo directory in the works.
