Speech Requirement
The Speech Requirement must be fulfilled prior to acceptance into the Education major/minor in one of the following ways:
- A formal high school speech course in 10th grade or above with a grade of "B" or better. (Must be listed on the high school transcript.)
- COMM 111 Public Speaking (4 credits) or COMM 200 Public Speaking Basics (2 credits)
- Speech Adequacy Test (see Education Department Handbook, Section VIII)
NOTE: If a student takes the Speech Adequacy Test and does not pass, or if a student's oral communication skills are in question, a college level speech course will be required.
**English majors with a 5-12 Education minor MUST TAKE a formal college speech course. They cannot choose options 1 and 3 above.
