October 12 - November 30, 2009
Gallery Lounge, CSB
Through the pure act of drawing I embark on a process of experimentation in an attempt to comment on our continual rejection of all that is considered genuine. As a response to these emerging standards and ideals of society, I began working with gestural and abstract marks in combination with elements of detail. While I draw, the process of being present with a tiny line is juxtaposed against the importance of recognizing the reactions that are naturally occurring amid a larger space. My investigational goals attempt to figure out what additions or alterations make the piece feel finished, all along making judgments about which is more beautiful, the natural mark suggesting a possibility of a genuine foundation or the unnatural line created through my human intervention.
