The Bailey Herbarium, which is the largest private college herbarium in Minnesota, is administered by the joint Biology Department of the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University. The Herbarium serves a vital role in the teaching of several courses (i.e., Plant taxonomy, Ecology) and is used extensively by our students and faculty for research in plant systematics and ecology. The Herbarium also provides a variety of botanical services to the public including plant identification clinics and guest lectures.
Visitors to the herbarium are always welcome. The herbarium is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the academic year or by appointment. We welcome individuals who wish to volunteer, too.
The purpose of this Web site is to provide information about the Bailey Herbarium (see Inside the Herbarium) and to serve as a gateway to information about Minnesota plants.
