Staff and associates from the CSB/SJU Bailey Herbarium are willing to identify plants for usually no charge. Bring or mail the specimen to the herbarium at the address listed. If you can get to the herbarium within a day or two of collecting the specimen, it can be kept fresh - store it in a plastic bag containing a damp paper towel in the refrigerator. Otherwise, the specimen should be pressed and dried (example, between the pages of a book). Collection/location data should preferably accompany the specimen. Photographic images are also useful. If you just have a photograph we may be able to identify the specimen. You can send the photograph via snail mail or email a digital image. We will identify the specimen as soon as possible.
