Assistant Professor, Tenure Track - Sociology (Anthropology)

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in sociocultural anthropology beginning in August 2010.  We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic colleague who will enjoy the challenge of increasing our course offerings in anthropology.  Substantive specialty is open, however, medical, urban, transnational/global, religion, work, and family/kinship may be of student interest here.  All area specialties are open for consideration.   The successful candidate will teach one anthropology course each semester and two courses in the Common Curriculum (i.e., in our general education program), where anthropological readings will be welcome.  While the successful candidate will be the only anthropologist among five sociologists, there are rich opportunities in our academic community for cross-disciplinary exchange and inter-disciplinary collaboration. ABD required; Ph.D. in Anthropology preferred.
