P.O. Box Assignments 
  • P.O. Box numbers are assigned by Computing Services in early August to all transfer students and incoming freshmen who are in current enrollment status.
  • New incoming students who register after this assignment has been completed, will manually be assigned a box by Mail Services.
  • Box number and combinations can be found on your banner account info.
  • A student will maintain the same Box Number for his duration at SJU if he remains in continued enrollment status, with the exception of Resident Assistants.
  • Resident Assistants maintain P.O. Boxes 0001 thru 0045, to make distribution of "on campus" information efficient.
  • If you have any questions regarding your box number, combination, or problems with your box, please contact the Campus Mail Center @2097.

Your Address 
  • All SJU student mail is delivered to your P.O. BOX, NOT your dorm room. 
  • DO NOT have mail addressed to your Dorm, it will be delayed.
  • Notices will be given for items too large for your box. These items may be picked up at the Campus Mail Center during regular office hours. A picture I.D. and signature is required.

Distribution Times
  • All incoming U.S. Mail is received in the morning Monday thru Friday.
  • Letter size mail is sorted and distributed to student boxes no later than 10:30 a.m.
  • Package notices (for items too large for P.O. Box) are logged and distributed no later than 10:30 a.m.
  • Newspapers and Magazines are distributed no later than 10:30 p.m.
  • Other bulk and inter-campus mail is distributed throughout the day as it is received.
Incoming Packages 
  • For the correct addressing of your package please refer to "YOUR ADDRESS."
  • U.S. Post Office and UPS packages are processed separately from letter mail and flats.
  • Any package that will not fit into your P.O. Box or requires special handling, will be logged and you will receive the following blue "pick up notice":

Packages can be picked up at the Campus Mail Center:

  • Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • A picture I.D. and a signature is required.
  • Package notices are boxed by 10:30 a.m. for USPS items, and as soon as packages are received from all other carriers.

Outgoing Packages:

  • U.S. Post Office - Located in the Old Gym.   Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Federal Express - CSB/SJU Bookstore will process items.  Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
COD'S
  • The Campus Mail Center will assist you by holding your check or money order (NO CASH will be held) until your delivery arrives.
  • Check with the company you are ordering from to determine if they require a cashier's check or money order or if they will accept your personal check. You may purchase money orders from the U.S. Post Office located in the Old Gym.
  • Have the check or money order addressed to the company you are ordering from.
  • Bring the check or money order to the Campus Mail Center. You will be called when your item arrives and a package notice will be placed in your P.O. Box.
Purchase Postage (And Other Mailing Supplies)
BOOKS OF STAMPS: May be purchased from the CSB/SJU Bookstores or the U.S. Post Office.
SINGLE POSTAGE STAMPS: May be purchased from the U.S. Post Office.
METERED POSTAGE: May be purchased from the Campus Mail Center.
Items must be ready to mail. Cash or check accepted, no charges.
Best for large quantities of mail, can seal and meter.
MAILING SUPPLIES: Envelopes and packing supplies may be purchased at the CSB/SJU Bookstore.
Single envelopes, packing supplies, money orders, and postal collectible items may be purchased at the U.S. Post Office.
Inter-Campus Mail
  • Inter-Campus mail may be sent postage free to any CSB/SJU office or to any student.
  • Items should be brought to the Campus Mail Center or placed in a "drop box" located on campus. (See below for drop box locations).
  • Mail is delivered to SJU offices two times per weekday, and all mail going to CSB is delivered to the CSB campus once per weekday.

Inter-campus mail should be addressed as follows:

For Departments:  Name - Department - Campus

For Students:  Name - Box # - Campus


SJU Drop Box Locations

(Pick up times are posted on each drop box in each area).

Drop boxes are located in the following academic buildings:

  • QUAD - Entry way to Dining Service, by the elevator.
  • SIMONS HALL - North entrance.
  • ALCUIN LIBRARY - South entrance.
  • SCIENCE CENTER - Northeast entrance, second floor stairwell.
  • WARNER PALAESTRA - First floor, next to Athletics' Office.

Forwarded Mail

The Campus Mail Center will forward all First Class Mail to the permanent home address listed for students who:

  • Withdraw or transfer - Mail Center is notified by Residential Life.
  • Are Studying Abroad - Mail Center is notified by International Studies.
  • Graduated in December - Mail Center is notified by Computing Services.
  • ARE NOT staying on campus for the summer months - Students must notify office only if they are planning to live on campus for the summer.
  • Mail is forwarded through the summer months for up to seven business days prior to the start of school. After this time mail is boxed for all current students.
  • Newspapers cannot be forwarded, Magazines can only be forwarded up to sixty days.
  • Graduates should inform family, friends, and business's of their new address as soon as possible to avoid delay of delivery.
