Abbot of Saint John’s Abbey and Chancellor of Saint John’s University. He received his BA at Saint John’s University and an MA in theology from Saint John’s University School of Theology Seminary in 1976. He has a PhD from the Catholic University of America in Bio-Organic Chemistry and did post-doctoral research at the University of California Berkeley in Organic Synthesis. He has won numerous awards and fellowships including the National Institutes of Health Predoctoral Fellow, the National Science Foundation Research Award, Burlington Northern Faculty Achievement Award, and the National Institutes of Health Research Award. He is well published and has presented nationally many times. He was elected Abbot in 2000.
