Book Lovers Night

The Retiree Book Club would like to invite other retirees to attend Book Lovers Night February 4, 2010, 7:00 p.m. at the Haehn Campus Center, Alumnae Hall featuring Michael Perry.

 

Michael Perry is a humorist and author of the bestselling memoirs Population 485: Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren at a Time; Truck: A Love Story; and Coop: A Year of Poultry, Pigs and Parenting. The New York Times says his work has "a storytelling heart that won't quit". Perry has written for Esquire, The New York Times Magazine, Outside, Backpacker, Orion and Salon.com, and is a contributing editor to Men's Health. He lives in rural Wisconsin. 

 

The Retiree Association would also like invite the retirees to read a book by Louise Erdrich and attend her lecture on Friday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m., Sister Firmin Escher Auditorium, Benedicta Arts Center. 

 

Acclaimed author Louise Erdrich will present a thought-provoking evening centering on her work, the importance of creativity in our lives and its vital place in our communities. Erdrich’s novels, including Love Medicine, The Beet Queen, and The Master Butchers Singing Club, frequently explore themes of cultural identity and the intersection of Ojibwa and European cultures.
