Benedictines in Central Minnesota — 150 Years

The Saint John’s Sesquicentennial is certainly a time to honor the past—beginning with five monks who set out along the Ohio River from Saint Vincent in Pennsylvania and made their way up the Mississippi to St. Cloud, Minnesota in April 1856.

It is also a celebration of today and the next 150 years, as we pay tribute to the communities who contribute to the shaping and flourishing of Saint John’s -- alumnae/i, benefactors, employees, friends, monks, neighbors, oblates, parents, researchers, students and especially the Sisters of Saint Benedict’s Monastery and their living witness to “seeking God after the monastic manner of life.”

Saint John’s leaves its mark on you, whether you stay one day, four years or a lifetime.
