The Saint John’s Senate (SJS) voted on Monday, Sept. 24, 2007 to schedule full senate meetings twice each month. Five SJS meetings are scheduled for the fall semester:
Previously the SJS met weekly.
The change, part of a motion by Senator Raj Chaphalkar to adopt a standing rules document, was adopted unanimously, as was the new meeting schedule. A discussion on the benefits of meeting twice each month was held in the SJS’s Outlook Public Folders, which can be accessed by CSB/SJU students.
The change is intended to increase board and committee productivity between full meetings, and allow for more substantive content during full senate debates.
