Program News

  • Marie Boo, a junior Biology major and Sports Medicine minor, will be inducted into the Omega Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma (DES).  The applicants must maintain a 3.9 GPA and must be very involved in the community through volunteer and extracurricular activities.

  • Currently, 170 CSB/SJU students are pursuing the minor in sports medicine.
  • According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the employment of fitness workers is expected to grow "much faster than average" through 2014.

Our program . . .

The CSB/SJU minor in Sports Medicine examines sport performance and injury from multiple disciplinary perspectives including:

  • Kinesiology
  • Exercise physiology
  • Motor learning and control
  • Athletic training

Coursework is designed to prepare students for careers in the exercise and fitness field.  More specifically, students will develop knowledge and skills in the areas of physiological assessment, exercise program design, and exercise technique instruction.

These courses will incorporate classroom learning and hands-on practical learning.  Students will be challenged to integrate knowledge and apply that knowledge in "real world" situations.
