Summer Research Fellowships are employment opportunities that support students engaged in research or creative work for 10 weeks during the summer. During the summer of 2009, 62 students from 13 departments were involved in this opportunity. Projects ranged from profiling personalities of political candidates to the effects of caffeine on maximal oxygen uptake and lactate threshold during exercise. Since 2000, 411 students from CSBSJU have been part of summer research.
Work alongside a faculty member on research in your field. Summer Research Fellows earn $9.25/hr plus a Room and Board supplement for 10 wks. This is a great way to apply your classroom knowledge to real world questions of importance. You may imagine that St. Joe closes down in the summer...not true! At CSBSJU, throughout the summer, recreational opportunities abound and the intellectual stimulation is unbeatable. There'll be barbecues, career advice, seminar speakers, canoing on the Sag, walks in the St. Ben's woods, and field trips to the University of Minnesota.
Fellowships are available through departments as listed below, via grant programs offered by various CSBSJU programs, and – for Honors Thesis students – the Honors Thesis Summer Research Fellowships. Any student may complete an Honors Thesis, it is not necessary to be enrolled in the Honors Program. Click here for more information.
