"Living with Money"

Monday, November 3, 2003

7:30 pm  HCC, Alumnae Hall

What is our relationship to money?  That questions will organize this evening's discussion among several remarkable women who come from different walks of life.  They include:

Nicky Carpenter, the head of Nicky B. Carpenter & Associates, an educational consulting firm, Chair of the Board of Overseers of the Hill Monastic Manuscript Library at St. John's University, and a long association with the Minnesota Orchestral Association and other Twin Cities charities, organizations, and colleges.

S. Mara Faulkner, poet and writer, Associate Professor of English, College of Saint Benedict, member of the Order of St. Benedict.  Her work, with S. Annette Brophy, is currently on display at the Art and Heritage Place in St. Joseph.

Susan Lester, the current Chair of the Board of Trustees of the College of Saint Benedict and retired CFO and Executive Vice President of US Bancorp in Minneapolis.  Chair, Search Committee for the new president of CSB.

Jean Matzke, a fabric artist, who, by one description, "uses traditional embroidery stitches to create nontraditional works of art." She founded the 702 Gallery in St. Cloud and now works at her art full time.  Her work is currently on exhibit at the Joan Kuyper Farver Gallery, in Pella, Iowa.

The panel will be chaired by Annette Atkins, Professor of History and Michael Blecker Professor in the Humanities at Saint John's University.
